French Onion Pizza Recipe
This flavor combination is so good, I love the contrasts of flavors and textures. If I happen to have some extra caramelized onions on hand - this is my go-to use for them.
I made this on a gluten-free crust as in the photograph, but also would work fantastically on a yogurt flatbread or pizza dough!
Ingredients
caramelized onions | click here for the recipe
dough | of choice
ricotta cheese
Gruyere cheese
a pinch of thyme leaves | pulled off the stem
parmesan cheese | freshly grated
Chili Flakes | if you would like
Instructions
Step One
Construct your pizza. Stretch out your dough. Top with the ricotta and gruyere cheese. Add your onions across the top.
Step Two
Bake your pizza in whatever method you find works best for you - be it pizza oven, on a pizza stone in the oven…. Here’s a great method in an oven if you are looking to level up your oven cooking method.
Step Three
Pull your pizza out of the oven. Top with grated parmesan, an extra pinch of fresh thyme leaves, chili powder (if you would like), and a little more freshly cracked black pepper. Enjoy!
